2016 Olympics BRT Terminals
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
OTC developed concept designs for new BRT terminals ahead of the 2016 Olympic Games, including:
- The Olympic Park Terminal at the junction of 3 BRT routes, planned to handle 50,000 passengers per hour as the main gateway to the Olympic Park, to be converted to an intermodal hub after the Olympics.
- Jardim Oceanico terminal of the new Metro Line 4 and Transoeste BRT line, a critical junction in the transport network being developed for the Games, with separate platforms for feeder buses, a ferry terminal, curbs for taxi and private car drop off/pick up, and bicycle parking linked to a new bike path network, handling over 20,000pax/hr at the peak.
- Salvador Allende terminal, at the terminus of the Transolimpico BRT line, where transfers to the Transoeste BRT, feeder buses, taxis, private cars and bicycles will be accommodated.
