Intermodal Transfer Terminal

Hong Kong International Airport

OTC is the planner of this expansion of Hong Kong International Airport’s SkyPier to accommodate the introduction of coach service via the new Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, as well as ferry passenger growth, creating an integrated, intermodal, bonded gateway to Hong Kong International Airport. The terminal will connect to the airport’s airside via an Automated People Mover (APM), which will reach the existing Terminal 1 complex, as well as the future expanded Terminal 2 and Third Runway Concourse. The new expansion area will provide coach boarding and alighting areas on the roof, additional ferry berthing bays, and expanded and reconfigured passenger areas, including check-in, security, baggage reclaim, and ferry and coach boarding. A fully automated baggage handling system (BHS) will deliver pre-checked bags from ferry and coach luggage holds directly to the air terminals.

OTC staff were also the original planners of SkyPier, which started operations in 2009.
